How we research costs

Cost bands on this site are indicative. We cross-check supplier quotes, published price lists and state fee schedules. Figures are rounded and labelled as estimates. Use our cost calculator and planning tools for ballpark figures, then confirm with local quotes. We revisit cost guides when fee schedules move or when readers report material price shifts in a state.

How we write reviews

Supplier reviews list pros and cons. We do not accept payment for placement or ranking. Directory listings are curated for active Australian businesses; inclusion is not an endorsement. Verify licences, insurance and references yourself. Reviews focus on what a homeowner can verify before signing: inclusions, lead times, warranty wording and service geography.

Regulations and council rules

Planning rules change. We link to primary government sources (NSW Planning Portal, VBA, QBCC, Your Home) and date-stamp updates. Always confirm your lot, zone and design with your council or a private certifier before you commit.
